چکیده

A 26-year-old man presented with a 1-month history of hemoptysis, fever and chest pain. Investigations revealed a peripheral blood eosinophilia along with focal areas of lung consolidation on radiographic imaging. Subsequent echocardiography confirmed cardiac involvement, with a reduction in systolic function and a speckled appearance of the myocardium. The patient was diagnosed as having eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis and was treated with intravenous cyclophosphamide and corticosteroids. He made an excellent recovery and was subsequently discharged 4 weeks later. We present the radiographic and cardiac imaging findings of this condition along with a review of the value on cardiac screening in this patient population. L Heart Metab; 2014;62:27–30

Patient with Churg Strauss Syndrome and Myocarditis Treated with Cyclophosphamide

Cardiac involvement in Churg Strauss Syndrome is common and a poor prognostic indicator. Myocarditis in Churg Strauss Syndrome can present in different ways. It has been shown that basic cardiac investigations including echocardiography can be normal even in symptomatic patients. More recently cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been shown to be more sensitive in its diagnosis. Our cas...

Native T1 Mapping Demonstrating Apical Thrombi in Eosinophilic Myocarditis Associated with Churg-Strauss Syndrome

Eosinophilic myocarditis is a disease characterized by eosinophilic infiltration of the myocardium, consisting of acute necrotic stage, thrombotic stage, and fibrotic stage. Although T1 mapping has been increasingly used in various cardiac pathologies, there has been no report of T1 mapping in eosinophilic myocarditis. We report a case of 75-year-old female with eosinophilic myocarditis, whose ...

Cardiac Involvement of Churg-Strauss Syndrome as a Reversible Cause of Dilated Cardiomyopathy

A 31-year-old male who had been treated for Churg-Strauss syndrome (CSS) presented with sudden onset of dysarthria. Brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed acute multifocal bilateral cerebral infarctions suggesting embolic causes. Cardiac MRI showed dilated cardiomyopathy with severe biventricular dysfunction with intracardiac thrombi, and multiple high signal intensity spots in myocardiu...

Eosinophilic myocarditis as a first presentation of eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (Churg-Strauss syndrome)

We present the case of a 28-year-old man who presented with chest pain and elevated cardiac biomarkers, with no evidence of acute ischaemia. He had a pronounced eosinophilia, abnormal echocardiographic, cardiac MRI and CT findings. He underwent transbronchial biopsy of carinal lymph nodes and of lung parenchyma. Endomyocardial biopsy yielded an eosinophilic infiltrate. He was treated with high ...

Juvenile Churg-Strauss Syndrome as an Etiology of Myocarditis and Ischemic Stroke in Adolescents; a Case Report

BACKGROUND Churg-Strauss syndrome (CSS), a systemic vasculitis accompanied by asthma and eosinophilia, almost invariably affects the lung and is frequently associated with cutaneous involvement. It rarely has cardiac involvement. We report an unusual case of CSS with myocardial involvement and stroke. CASE PRESENTATION A 16-year old female suffered of allergic asthma for 4 years. She was unde...
